House in Carcavelos

A house originally designed in 1948 by the Portuguese architect Keil do Amaral, now reinterpreted for contemporary living in collaboration with Estúdio Obra Prima.

Integrating architecture with interior design, the renovation of this residence in Carcavelos sought to respect its original spirit while amplifying the potential of its various spaces. The suites were expanded to more generous dimensions, the living areas gained a new sense of fluidity, the kitchen was opened to the garden, and the living and dining rooms were unified with a central fireplace. The finishes were updated to reflect a refined and timeless atmosphere.

A significant effort was made to reduce impermeable areas, reinforcing the sustainable dimension of the intervention and the balanced relationship between architecture and landscape. The result is a house that preserves the legacy of Keil do Amaral while inaugurating a new chapter — marked by collaboration across continents and disciplines, by memory and modernity.

Uma casa originalmente desenhada em 1948 pelo arquiteto português Keil do Amaral, agora reinterpretada a para a vida contemporânea em colaboração com o Estúdio Obra Prima.

Integrando a arquitetura com o design de interiores, a renovação desta moradia em Carcavelos procurou respeitar o seu espírito original amplificando o potencial dos vários espaços. As suítes ganharam dimensões mais generosas, os espaços de convívio ganharam uma nova fluidez, a cozinha abriu-se para o jardim e as salas de estar e de jantar foram unificadas com uma lareira ao centro. Os acabamentos foram atualizados para refletir uma atmosfera refinada e intemporal.

Um esforço significativo foi feito na redução das áreas impermeabilizadas, reforçando a dimensão sustentável da intervenção e a relação equilibrada entre arquitetura e paisagem. O resultado é uma casa que preserva o legado de Keil do Amaral e inaugura um novo capítulo — marcado pela colaboração entre continentes e disciplinas, pela memória e pela modernidade.
